Xray Console Awesomeness

Sometimes its really impressive how much stuff they cram into a little console. I probably don't have to tell you which picture above is the Xbox 360 and which is the Atari 2600. Here's a hint, the older one is mostly empty space. Oh, and one of them is labeled. Flickr member Reintji got these pictures somehow, the method to which I can only assume was highly illegal. But hey, you don't have to worry about that, you just get to see neat computer guts. Enjoy

Gooooooooo.......

It walks! It talks! It assaults small towns in America, killing hundreds!!!! well ok, only the first one, but still, its only a small step until those other things happen. get it? step? ha ha....

Scientists have found a way to make this blob of goo walk. although its incredibly small, how long until its some sort of military terror? only time will tell...
follow the link to see a video. that's right, they have video confirmation.

The people's Hero. Also, twinkie porn

Today I present to you a tribute to Mikael Gorbachov by the Russian metal band ANJ. You might remember Gorbachov as the last leader of the Soviet Union. Also as the man who was ultimately responsible for its downfall, and he won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 for it. Between the zombie Stalins, luscious babes, Twinkies coca-cola and blue jeans raining from the sky and eye lasers, this thing is pretty legit. Don't just take my word for it, watch it yourself. The lyrics are in English believe it or not. What a great man.

Come with me if you want to live!

Thats right, robots. and not only are they humanoid robots, but they're humanoid robots that serve as clothing models. I'm shocked, maybe a little dismayed. All that funding and research is going to create robot models. this robot is really pushing the uncanny valley too, it looks like something straight out of Jim Henson's workshop. As a side note, does anyone else notice that those two robots in the background look like gundams? the story doesn't really mention what their purpose is, and I doubt it's to model the year's latest mecha weaponry. Weird. You can read the story here.

Nintendo's Entry in the great Bong Race

Alright, Alright, lets not get carried away now. I realize I just posted on the awesomeness of a bong made out of a 360, but Gizmodo just made a post of another gaming bong, this time made out of a classic NES Zapper. If there were a community out there dedicated to making bongs out of random crap, well, that would be 6 secret spices of awesome. I guess I'll keep posting on these things. They make me happy.

But, but... it was an Xbox....

Its really kind of astonishing the lengths that some people will go to to make bongs out of ordinary objects. the thing pictured above? the cheapest it could have been was $200, and I hope that it was broken before hand. On the other side it's really rather inventive, and maybe a little cool. If you're in to that thing. The full story on the Xbox bong can be found here from Gizmodo. hehehe, I approve lol.

Lost in the desert

This post isn't so much about the awesomeness of flash drives (which is what these are) but the awesomeness of the picture. These are Star Wars Mimobot flash drives, and they're pretty nifty. besides, that picture's a classic.

70's book covers

So I have been noticing the resurgence of 70's style book covers. over at http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/ they have a nice article of some movies that have been made into covers (Highlander pictured above). Also there has been a big move to make these things for video games too (like the Left 4 Dead pictured above). This is pretty impressive stuff, I love anything that combines retro style with modern concepts. Some of the video game covers can be found here.

But can I pay for arcade games with it?

So wow. Someone out there thought it would be a good idea to make one of these hats. Hey, its not that I'm not pleased or anything, its just that I'm speechless. Seriously, would you wear this? I love Back to the Future, its one of my all time favorite trilogies, but the best I could hope for this hat is to put it on my hat rack. If I wore hats. Regardless, at only $19.99, why not? If you love something enough, you might as well.

You can get the hat at big bad toy store here.

Leonardo da Vinci designs are all the rage

It seems to me that taking things and making them into Leonardo da Vinci designs is incredibly popular these days, especially for t-shirts. two examples would be the iPhone drawings above and the blue turtle shell from mario kart. Honestly I can't complain, these things blend old world style (16th century) with modern pop culture. Plus they look really cool. Now someone just needs to take a stab at the transformers franchise. My fanboy heart would sing.

Its the Future...

Check out these radiaton proof garments. They're a recent development by Demron Garments and other than blocking out radiation, they also have a ridiculously sci-fi feel to them. Apparently besides nano technology, these things are made out of a "liquid metal" material. Cool. How long until they're available to the public? I don't know. Furthermore how long until we need them? hopefully never.

His Eyes Were Closed...

David Bergman took a 1,474 megapixel image at the inaguration last week. I knew that this kind of technology existed but I hadn't really seen it in practice until now. He took 220 images and it took his Mac Book Pro 6.5 hours to compile the photo. You can find the photo here and its amazing the level of detail. Unfortunately though the President wasn't ready for the photo, and I doubt there are going to be reshoots.

White House Technology Troubles

One of the first concerns that President Obama did not expect to face when he moved into the white house was its technological backwardness. Honestly its not something I would expect either. Campaign members were restricted from using facebook and outside email addresses as well as instant messaging. Sure some of these things make sense for security concerns, but there are ways people, there are ways. Furthermore some members of the new White House staff don't even have computers or phone numbers. Smoooth. I wonder how Bush ever survived with such little access to the outside world. or maybe that explains a few things.

Thank god someone was this crafty...

What we have here ladies and gentlemen, is a portal gun. Some of you may not play video games, and I respect that, but everyone should at least play portal. It's this cheeky little puzzle game in which a test subject is forced to run through a series of puzzles with nothing but a gun that can make two portals at different locations. Go in one, come out the other. For a better synopsis of the whole thing you can watch this video. its towards the end, but its all pretty hilarious. Long story short I want one. It may not work, But its still monstrously cool. I wish we had this kind of technology for public use. More images can be found at the flickr gallery here.

Hopefully soon we will.
Well, unless its just physically impossible.

Amish Mac Protection

So, the blog continues to lack most types of pattern or consistency. That's ok, I'm experimenting. So anyway, check this thing out. It is literally a wooden box to put 15" mac book and mac book pros in. This decorative box (read mac coffin) with a leather lining and magnetic enclosures isn't priced yet, but if it follows the general Apple pricing trend, it'll be too much. But hey, if you have a certain wooden aestetic going, why break up the trend?

We're Still Working out the Bugs

Alright, I'll admit that this place could use a new coat of paint. And in all honesty some walls on which to put that paint. But enough of that! I was up and I found something that was relatively mindless and kind of worth a post. Astonishing isn't it? Who would have thought that anything like this even existed. Thankfully the people over at Film Junk spent the time to find this little gem. The link takes you to the full article. Personally speaking, some sort of Vulcan turtle that can walk and talk intrigues me. Not to mention that its Donatello.

This is only a test...

Ok, I just wanted to see what a post would look like. Hopefully the next time I post I'll actually have something interesting to say.
